As of the Trump rally shooting, there's been a lot of false rumors spreading.
Some have been pure propaganda, while others have been speculations that people easily believed in.

The most common false rumors have been:

1: "The counter-sniper knew about the shooter but waited for the shooter to fire before targeting him"
This is completely false, the counter-sniper did not know there was a real threat and couldn't see the shooter at all.
Once the shooter fired multiple shots, the counter-sniper realize the threat, identified where it came from and then moved his weapon into position to target the shooter.As seen in this video, you can see the counter-sniper being surprised by the shots, looked up to identify the target and then move his weapon into a position before aiming.

2: "The shooter used a bb gun!"
This is too false, the distance between the shooter and the stage at the point was 130 meters (143 yards), not many bb guns can shoot that distance, and they certainly doesn't make the sound you can hear in the video.
The weapon the shooter was using was an AR-15, Which is a semiautomatic rifle with a maximum range of 500 meters (1,640 feet).
This weapon can be bought and owned in most states of USA.

3: "Trump planned to be shot to boost campaign"
This is an ridiculous claim barely worth mentioning because the logic behind it simply doesn't exist.
Who would want a 20 year old semi-unstable kid, previously an antifa supporter (a hard Trump hater) to act as a shooter and do a shot from such a distance, with such experience that he could have either hit or miss target with up to 10 meters (33 feet)?

4: "The counter-sniper knew about the shooter and requested permission to take a shot but was denied"
This rumor is pure propaganda, it states that the counter-sniper, the one seen in video who adjust his weapon, knew about the shooter but was denied to take a shot from the FBI, that he once the shooter fired at Trump, decided to go against his orders and target the shooter.
And after that he was arrested and questioned by the FBI and was released after an hour, and to top all that he was fired for targeting the shooter.
It's not clear where this propaganda came from, but it's twisted to the point that there's no logic in it either.


There are many more rumors spreading like wildfire, be critical to everything you hear and read about this event.
A lot of people without experience will assume something and once a friend agree it's possible, they will claim it as the truth and spread it onward.
While other are trying to gain points for/against Trump by making stories up.

Be careful, be critical, find sources or at minimum think logically.
Using what you already know, and match it with the details of stories helps busting a lot of fake stories!
